SCSCS
and UMI Motorsports Park Mutually Agree to Pause Keystone Twins
Until 2023; Immediate Focus Shifts to Jennerstown Next Month
Statesville,
North Carolina (June 8, 2022) – Based on current conditions in
the economic environment impacting many factors, the difficult
choice has been made for the Keystone Twins, scheduled for June 18th
at UMI Motorsports Park, to not be held in 2022.
The decision was agreed upon by both the Super Cup Stock Car
Series and the Clearfield, Pennsylvania track staff, in hopes that
circumstances will turn around in a favorable manner to try again
next year.
“We need to
handle the challenges that face us as they present themselves,”
series director Joe Schmaling said.
“The slower availability for competitors to fix or obtain
necessary equipment and current costs of travel and fuel has made
times tough all over. This
isn’t very different from changes we’ve had to make the past,
and it often results in more positive results down the road.”
The series wishes
to express their apologies for any inconvenience or disappointment
to those who were looking forward to attending, but encourages
everyone to check out and support the facility’s upcoming
festivities, such as DriveAutoX this weekend and TeamCross the
following weekend. Further
information can be found at https://umimotorsportspark.com.
The additional
break between races will provide SCSCS teams added time to regroup
and make necessary repairs or finishing touches to their machines
after a sluggish start to the year, both on and off the track for
several, in anticipation for the next event at Pennsylvania’s
Jennerstown Speedway Complex in July.
More details and
continued updates throughout the season will be available at the
official web site at supercupstockcarseries.com
as well as the Super Cup Stock Car Series Facebook,
Twitter, and Instagram
pages.
