5, 2008: A&G Coal Night at the Races
(Coeburn,
VA – 08/02/08) Saturday night short track action returned
to ASA Sanctioned Lonesome Pine Raceway to kick off the
month of August in style. A large crowd of 2000 plus
witnessed
a great show. The night's racing
action was sponsored by the A& G Coal Corporation
and featured the familiar Pure-4,
Mod-4, Charger, Street Stock, and Late Model Divisions.
Also on schedule for the evening was the touring
Super Cup Stock Car Series events. The event was won by
Joe Harrison III.

22, 2008: August 2nd Lonesome Pine Raceway
They
say that racing is no picnic, but the people at A&G
coal company see it differently. A&G coal company
is sponsoring the Super Cup race at Lonesome Pine Raceway
on August 2nd for that very reason. A picnic for their
employees and families at the track with fun and food
for all. A&G is expecting a large crowd to attend
the company picnic and the race day activities. The Super
Cup drivers will bring their cars to A&G`s picnic
area at 3:00 in the afternoon. Everyone will have the
chance to meet the drivers and see the race cars up close.
Super Cup cars have six hundred horse power racing engines.
They are very similar to Nationwide cars. This will be
an exciting day for everyone. It will mark the first appearance
for the Super Cup series at Lonesome Pine Raceway. After
qualifying, the super cup cars will line up on the front
stretch for an autograph session. The gates will be opened
for the spectators to come down and meet the drivers.
LPR has a full night of racing scheduled.

Johnson Wins at Newport Speedway. 
There
is a saying that if you cant stand the heat then get out
of the kitchen. And if your looking for a barnburner then
Newport Speedway was the place to be this past Saturday
night for the fourth stop of the Super Cup Stock Car Series.
Daniel Johnson became the first two time
winner in the young Super Cup Series. He also had won
at Franklin County a few weeks ago.

Rob
Jones is a man on a mission. He has done flybys in planes
at various NASCAR races and NFL football games.
But
the cockpit of a plane isn't where this Bowie MD. resident
wants to be. Jones hopes to be racing in the Nationwide
Series within the next three to four years. That's his
long term goal.

Rules update: SCSCS has received
numerous inquiries regarding the use of the 2008 ProCup
composite body in competition in the 2008 SCSC series.
After discussion and consideration, the board has agreed
to NOT allow the 2008 composite body for competition during
the 2008 season. We appreciate everyone's interest and
input both for and against this request.

Fun, disappointment, jubilation and frustration were just
some of the words to describe Saturdays opening race for
the Super Cup Stock Car series opener. For Schrewsbury
PA driver, Wally Schweizer, is was bitter disappointment;
but for Miamisburg, Oh Megan Reitenour, is still jubliation
today. Reitenour only 16 years old, took the lead with
three laps remaining in the 100 lap race at Tri County
Speedway in Hudson NC to claim the win in the first ever
Super Cup Stock Car Series race. (read

The Super Cup Stock Car Series is very excited to announce two new
sponsors on the eve of it's opening weekend of the inaugural 2008 racing
season.

The highly anticipated premiere of the new Super Cup Stock Car Series is
only two days away! The first official race will be held at
Tri-County Motor Speedway this Saturday, March 8th at 4:30 PM. Many
cars will first hit the track on Friday for an open test at the speedway.
There is already a successful buzz in the air about this new series.
The opening race has expected entries from Iowa, Ohio, New York,
Pennsylvania, Florida, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South
Carolina, Mississippi and Florida. Forecasts show that race time
weather will be around 50 degrees which will be welcome to the competitors
coming from the Midwest and northeast!

As previously announced, Tri-County Motor Speedway in conjunction with Joe
Schmaling and Mart Nesbitt, will begin their season Saturday March 8,
2008. The 1st annual “Icebreaker” event is shaping up to be a huge day of
racing. The new Super Cup Stock Car Series will make their first of three
appearances at the speedway in 2008 with a 100 lap feature event. (read

January
7, 2008 - Joe Schmaling, SCSCS Director of Competition, will be at
the
Piedmont Racing Expo & Auction in Raleigh, NC on January 18th and
19th. There will be a booth where you can talk to Joe about the series
and its inaugural 2008 season. There will be a two seat "drive
and ride" car on display. This car will also be at the opening
race at
Tri-County Motor Speedway on March 8th. One lucky winner
will be taken around the speedway by the driver of their choice before
the SCSCS event!
