Super
Cup Stock Car Series Finishing off the Year at One of the Places
Where It All Started
Statesville,
North Carolina (October 30, 2025) – A few months back, an
added bonus expanded the existing Super Cup Stock Car Series
schedule. Saturday,
November 1st gives competitors two more chances to take home
trophies and bragging rights before hibernating in the race shops in
preparation for 2026.
Tri-County Speedway
was one of the first venues the series visited when formed in late
2007. Much like then,
the twin 40-lap races will not involve any points toward a
championship being scored. Instead,
it gives the opportunity for some racers to go back to the facility
the SCSCS last visited in 2022, and for others it will be their
first time, in a few different ways.
There are a pair of
drivers confirmed that turned laps around the 4/10-mile oval three
years ago, one of them will be making his first start behind the
wheel in almost as much time and another residing less than a half
hour away with prior experience across a couple local divisions
about a decade back.
Jeff
Zillweger treks down from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with family
members and NASCAR Truck Series competitor Norm Benning assisting in
the effort. The veteran
of 48 SCSCS races since 2012 will look to improve upon fifth and
sixth place lead lap results in 2022 and perhaps better a career
high finish of third, also his best points result in 2016.
Tri-County was one of the tracks that Ben Ebeling cut his
teeth in classes such as Limited Late Models and Street Stocks upon
moving from Ohio down to Hickory, North Carolina after high school.
Winning 75 percent of races entered in 2025, he surely will
have high hopes, looking to add to his total as all-time winningest
driver in the series after capturing third in the final running
order during the autumn event last time as the local favorite.
In 2008, Tri-County
hosted the inaugural SCSCS points event.
On that brisk day Megan Reitenour became the first driver to
wave the checkered flag in victory lane.
She went on to win twice more that season and claimed second
in the final standings. The
series has a vast history of women finding success over the years
that has included a podium result for Taylor Nesbitt, laps led by
Samatha Rohrbaugh, rookie of the year honors and runner-up finishes
secured by Lauren Butler, and most recently earlier in 2025 with
Lexi Arnold capturing a Pole Award.
Chrissy Wallace, a
Late Model track champion in 2011 at Lebanon I-44 Speedway in the
state of Missouri in which she was born, will look to make an impact
next in her SCSCS debut. The
third-generation racer has competed at Tri-County before, but not
since the surface was repaved prior to 2024.
The daughter of Mike Wallace, a multi-time race winner in
NASCAR and ARCA at prestigious tracks such as Daytona International
Speedway, Chrissy will have her father along with five-time NASCAR
Cup Series winner and a three-time winner at Tri-County more
recently in Jeremy Mayfield, and the entire North Carolina-based D2
Motorsports group headed by Donnie Doster in her corner for their
effort on Saturday.
In the category of
first timers at the Hudson, North Carolina facility are drivers that
have no shortage of SCSCS experience, but in a couple cases it will
be their first appearance in quite some time.
The last occasion Harvey
Harrison was seen at the track; he was hoisting his second series
championship trophy at the conclusion of the 2023 season.
This
weekend
he will be back, but instead in the No. 35 in which Mitch Gibson
recently earned the 2025 title.
Harvey’s son Brian
Harrison will additionally be bringing down the Harrison’s
Motorsports No. 15 from their Renick, West Virginia hometown.
A four-time second place finisher in 80 career starts, Brian
Harrison was triumphant in a "First-Time Winners"
exhibition race at nearby Hickory Motor Speedway in 2011.
There is also a
mixture of newer faces to stock car racing combining with experience
making up more of the field. Dylan
Godinez made his first stock car entrance up from the karting ranks
at Shenandoah Speedway in August, finishing seventh driving for
third place points finisher in 2025, Eric Barber.
For this weekend, he will make the short commute from his
home in Conover, North Carolina to drive the Ashton Racing No. 57,
which has seen competition at the track in the past.
Austin Vaughn is
new to the SCSCS, but Larry Wilcox Racing was there from the
beginning, finishing top five in the inaugural points race as well
as an initial exhibition event at Tri-County with driver and team
owner Larry Wilcox behind the wheel nearly 20 years ago.
Vaughn travels from Burnsville, Mississippi and finished
fourth in the ARCA East Series standings this year with a top five
finish at Michigan’s Flat Rock Speedway.
Toby Blanton, a debut driver in early October at Shenandoah
from Brooks, Georgia, is scheduled to split driving duties with
Mocksville, North Carolina’s Marc Jones, who has numerous laps of
knowledge at the track outside of the series.
Spectator gates and
tier parking will open at 4:00 p.m. with qualifying beginning at
4:45 p.m. During the 5 o’clock hour a 30-minute autograph session
for fans will take place on the frontstretch.
Racing festivities, including features for six local
divisions as part of Tri-County Speedway’s Championship Night and
the twin 40-lap main events for the Super Cup Stock Car Series, are
slated to start at 6:00 p.m. The
packed evening will have a low general admission price of $14 with
military and seniors $12, and kids ages 12 and under admitted for
free.
There will be an
optional test and tune offered to competitors with a cost of $100
per car both Friday afternoon from Noon until 5:00 and early
afternoon on race day from Noon until 2:00.
Additional drivers
are almost certain to be confirmed prior to Saturday and details as
they are released as well as interactive updates throughout race day
will be available on Facebook (search Super Cup Stock Car Series),
Twitter (@SCSCSRacing), Instagram (SCSCS_Racing), and https://www.youtube.com/SCSCSRacing.
