Twin Races Part of “Reloaded” Fan Appreciation Night at Lonesome
Pine
Statesville,
North Carolina (June 18, 2025) – The third time is looking to
be the charm after inclement weather eliminated May’s scheduled
Super Cup Stock Car Series events at Lonesome Pine Motorsports Park.
Saturday, June 21st will be dubbed Fan Appreciation Night
Reloaded, putting into action the plans that were originally laid
out at the end of last month before rain arrived.
Last time out at
the Coeburn, Virginia 3/8-mile oval, practice and qualifying were
completed with local favorite Mitch Gibson claiming his first career
SCSCS Pole Award and a step nearer to breaking through
with
a big victory. Since
appearance points were already awarded and this weekend’s
festivities also make up for the lost May 3rd date, it will be a
fresh slate of the usual race day schedule, additionally allowing
for competitors that were not in attendance a few weeks back to have
a fair shot.
Qualifying second
that previous evening was Denver, North Carolina’s “ShoTime”
Mike, who is searching for his first win since 2015 and first career
Pole Award. When teams
lined up for pace laps, Damian Payton from Winston-Salem, North
Carolina was scheduled to start at the front, and this go-round will
be
further prepared with the valuable track time he acquired to
potentially qualify fast enough to be within the redraw once again.
2024 Lonesome Pine
winner Brent Nelson has made some notes from lessons learned upon
continuing to shake down his newer racecar while teammate Larry
Frame as well as Eric Barber will round out the West Virginia
contingent of drivers. All
cars that were on hand last time are expected to return on Saturday.
Spectator gates
open at 3:00 p.m. with racing, including the twin main events for
the Super Cup Stock Car Series as part of Fan Appreciation Night
Reloaded featuring several local classes slated to begin at 6:00
p.m. General admission
is only $5 per person at the gate.
The facility
will also have specials on drinks, tacos, burgers, pizza, go-kart
rides for $5 each with free popcorn, bounce houses, and race car
rides for the kids.
