Larry
Frame Set to Tackle 2024 With a Storied Ride and Knowledgeable
Advice
Statesville,
North Carolina (February 8, 2024)
– Planning to join the Super Cup Stock Car Series behind the wheel
in 2024 is Larry Frame, an individual with motorsports in his blood
practically his entire life.
"I got hooked
on racing at a very young age," Frame indicated about his
interest growing up watching races at places in northern Virginia
such as the Old Dominion Speedway, a track in which the SCSCS
visited in 2011.
Despite that, the
chance to make his driving debut did not arrive until the age of 44.
"I raced a
grocery getter at Eastside Speedway," Frame began, regarding
his past experience at a 4/10-mile dirt facility located in
Waynesboro, Virginia. "Later
I started racing Mini Mods at (nearby track) Winchester Speedway and
(on asphalt) at Shenandoah Speedway."
The latter, which
will host the fifth running of the Veterans Classic on Saturday,
June 1st, Frame collected a couple trophies in the process during
his previous tenure competing there.
Frame
will be piloting a ride with a good amount of SCSCS history.
It last saw track time at Jennerstown Speedway with Codie
Rohrbaugh driving in 2014 and before that was the original in which
Brent Nelson first purchased from another occasional series
competitor, Jeff Roark, to join the series in 2010 and ran most
recently at the former Columbus Motor Speedway more than a decade
ago.
"I am looking
forward to racing with the Super Cup series this year in one of
Brent Nelson's cars," Frame, who has assisted the No. 80 team
during multiple past race days, commented.
"I think Larry
is as excited as a kid in a candy store to drive this year,"
Nelson, a 20-time series winner, added.
"I am glad to see him getting one of my cars ready to
race and have fun, rather than it just sitting in the shop."
Nelson
recognizes Frame could have a steep learning curve, but ahead of his
debut has provided a good amount of advice that certainly could be
universal to anyone continuing to acquire knowledge and skill.
"I've told him
to take it easy and learn the feel of the car, then, as he gets more
comfortable, he can step it up," Nelson explained.
"These heavier cars will not turn when you try to drive
them in deep until you are very comfortable, then you will still
drive it in too hard. I
still catch myself doing it from time to time."
The first three
events for the 2024 Super Cup Stock Car Series campaign have been
confirmed, beginning with the Coalminers Classic at Coeburn,
Virginia's Lonesome Pine Motorsports Park on Saturday, May 4th.
A future release will detail the schedule in full once the
remaining dates have been finalized.
