Kingsport Friday Night Heat Rescheduled; Divisional Championship Realignment Announced

Mount Joy, Pennsylvania (July 16, 2017) – Remnants from Tropical Storm Cindy won out back in June, but the Super Cup Stock Car Series drivers and teams will get a second chance to race at Kingsport Speedway for the first time.  The eastern Tennessee 3/8-mile facility will host the rescheduled Friday Night Heat presented by United Tire on August 4th.

Affectionately known as the “Concrete Jungle”, the Friday evening’s festivities will consist of one 50-lap feature before competitors cross the state border to Southwest Virginia for the regularly scheduled Extreme Awards & Personalization / Patrick Miller Photography Twin 50s presented by United Tire at Lonesome Pine Raceway the next day.

“We’re looking forward to going down there and going back to start our Southern points deal out and see what we can do there,” Brent Nelson remarked regarding the upcoming SCSCS debut at Kingsport and return visit to Lonesome Pine following an evening sweep at the most recent event at Pennsylvania’s Jennerstown Speedway Complex.

The June event at Kingsport was intended to kick-start the Southern division championship, but will now begin with three races over a two-day span.  These features will also play a major role in determining the 10th Anniversary season-long champion.

Following the jam-packed weekend of racing in early August, both the Northern and Southern divisional champions will be named at the conclusion of the first of Twin 50s back at Jennerstown later in the month.

The final race on Saturday, August 26 will decide the SCSCS champion, accumulated over the entire 2017 campaign.  Jim Crabtree Jr. currently holds a 40-point advantage on Kevin Kromer in both the Northern and overall standings.
