Super Cup Stock Car Series Traveling
South in September
Officials with the
Super Cup Stock Car Series and Orange County Speedway in Rougemont,
North Carolina are excited to announce an added event to their
schedules. Saturday,
September 12 will mark the first time the series has visited the
3/8-mile located near the cities of Raleigh and Durham, although the
facility has hosted similar cars in the past.
The national tour,
now known as the NASCAR Xfinity Series, held races at OCS from 1983
through 1994 as well as the former Pro Cup series in recent years.
SCSCS will bring a glimpse of the past with affordable
full-bodied stock cars rubbing fenders in grassroots fashion, the
way it used to be.
“We are looking
forward to bringing the Super Cup Stock Car Series to OCS for
2015,” Orange County Speedway Director of Operations Terry Deal
stated. “Our fans will
be pleased to see the show that this touring series will put on.”
In the spring,
SCSCS officials announced that former Pro Cup teams will be
permitted to bring their existing machines to compete with only
minor changes to be made. With
SCSCS back in the Tar Heel State after a few year absence, racers in
the area still with cars can compete in their own backyard.
Paired with the
existing supporters of the series, it will be a show that fans will
not want to miss.
Interested teams
are urged to contact SCSCS series director Joe Schmaling at
828-768-3589 or via email at scscs@att.net for further details.
The series extends the invitation for new competitors while
also remaining committed to the core group of racers, as well as
sponsors, who have consistently supported and competed in series
events through the years.
