SCSCS Joins North Carolinians in Mourning the Passing of Senator Martin Nesbitt Jr.

Skyland, North Carolina (March 8, 2014) – Martin Nesbitt Jr., attorney and esteemed North Carolina legislator for more than 30 years passed away Thursday March 6th.  Noted for many accomplishments within his duties in the state legislator and champion of causes to better the less fortunate, Senator Nesbitt could also be found assuming a different leadership role at a variety of regional short tracks as crew chief for son Mart and more recently granddaughter Taylor as well.

Citing stomach cancer, the passing of Martin Nesbitt Jr. was rather unexpected with his resignation as NC Senate minority speaker coming just two days prior.  The following day, a grand welcome awaited the statesman on his return to his lifelong home of Buncombe County. North Carolina.

"Racing has lost a very great friend and had provided invaluable insight beyond the formative years of the series.  Martins absence will be felt by many within his extended racing family", commented Series Director Joe Schmaling.  "We offer our deepest sympathies to the Nesbitt family at this time of great loss".
