Guidance from Team Owners a Crucial Piece toward the Puzzle for SCSCS Success

Mount Joy, Pennsylvania (November 14, 2017) – In the race-to-race grind during the Super Cup Stock Car Series summer months the focus is mainly placed upon the individual behind the wheel.  While in some cases in the grassroots short track atmosphere that person is also the one paying the bills, there are some other instances in which the potentially forgotten key to making an opportunity possible is the important aspect of the car owner.

One such personality who often works behind-the-scenes without requesting much recognition is Don Gnat.  The current Indiana resident moved from South Dakota at a young age and tagged along to a Figure 8 race at what is now Anderson Speedway.  The experience as a whole caught his interest and years of dabbling in the local short track world in various roles including as a driver eventually led to 2012 with an eventual SCSCS champion.

SCSCS Officials Make Difficult Decision to Postpone Highland Rim Special Event

Mount Joy, Pennsylvania (October 7, 2017) – After considerable effort and thought, the Super Cup Stock Car Series has coordinated with Highland Rim Speedway to postpone their upcoming special event to an indefinite date.  The Twin 50-lap features were scheduled for the 1/4-mile facility nearby Nashville, Tennessee on Saturday, October 14.

The decision was made primarily to allow supporting teams the chance to recover from an active racing season and new interest additional time to prepare for their entrance into the full-bodied stock car touring series.  The SCSCS staff applauds Highland Rim co-owner Jerry Criswell, Director of PR/Marketing Jerry Hayes, and all of the track staff for their enthusiasm, understanding, and commitment to have made this event a possibility.

The SCSCS and Highland Rim will work together to look into options for a reschedule as a potential special event in 2018.

With that, the 10th Anniversary Season of SCSCS racing has concluded.  Record field sizes and competition as well as increased viewership, each evident in various statistical categories, were among the highlights witnessed throughout 2017, setting the stage and positive momentum for an exciting 2018.

New episodes of the Super Cup Stock Car Series 2017 races continue to be shown on MAVTV with multiple airtimes each week.  Please visit mavtv.com for full listings of televised coverage of this year’s events.

Schacht and Brougher Add Names to SCSCS Record Book in Inaugural Dominion Raceway Special Event

Thornburg, Virginia (September 24, 2017) – The Super Cup Stock Car Series made their long-awaited first ever stop at the immaculate Dominion Raceway and Entertainment complex and gave fans that came out a show worth talking about.

The inaugural SCSCS 75-lap non-points special event presented by Avatar Instruments saw Bob Schacht as the driver to beat throughout the afternoon, quickest on short practice runs and claiming the Pole Award with a best time of 15.882 seconds.  2017’s Top Performing Rookie recipient Jerod Brougher made the six-car redraw for the first time in his career and ended up leading the 15-car field to green.

Almost immediately, Schacht marched from his fourth starting position toward the front, but not without a fight from outside pole starter Ben Ebeling.  Ebeling, a winner at Lonesome Pine in early August, successfully gained sole possession of the top spot and led for numerous circuits.

10th Anniversary SCSCS Championship a “Long Time Coming” for Jim Crabtree Jr.

Somerset, Pennsylvania (September 5, 2017) – After ending up close to the ultimate trophy on multiple past occasions, 2017 went in Jim Crabtree Jr.’s favor enough to call himself a Super Cup Stock Car Series champion.  The two times previous runner-up and a number of top supporters were recognized at the annual Awards Presentation the morning following the final event of the regular season held at Jennerstown Speedway Complex.

“It took me a few years, but we finally got one,” an elated Crabtree, whose 10th Anniversary title was his first since 1994 when he competed on the local racing circuit back home in Indiana, said.  “It’s been a long time coming.  Just happy it finally came.”

It was the Muncie resident’s return to the series for the first time since 2013 and preparation was the key in a year that saw one victory and no finish worse than fourth in eight starts.

Mount Joy, Pennsylvania (August 22, 2017) – The Super Cup Stock Car Series will be capping off the 10th Anniversary regular season in a big way this coming weekend in Pennsylvania.  Three champions and many additional trophy recipients will be named over the course of the Jennerstown Speedway Complex Twin 50’s presented by United Tire.

The most prestigious award on the line is the title of 10th SCSCS champion.  Jim Crabtree Jr. is currently in the driver’s seat after an incredibly consistent 2017 to date in his first full-time return to the series since consecutive runner-up points finishes in 2012 and 2013.  The driver of the No. 63 Jim's Automotive / Judy's Apartments Chevrolet has not finished worse than fourth all year long and won a feature the most recent time out at Lonesome Pine Raceway earlier in the month.

Crabtree and Ebeling Grab Clean and Green Lonesome Pine Twin 50s

Coeburn, Virginia (August 6, 2017) – A total of only one yellow flag slowed the field across 100 laps of Super Cup Stock Car Series racing, but the 18 drivers on hand put on some fast and exciting competition for fans at Lonesome Pine Raceway on Saturday night.

Brad Teague, a local crowd favorite and former track champion at the Southwest Virginia facility, and current points leader Jim Crabtree Jr. started from the front row for the first Extreme Awards & Personalization / Patrick Miller Photography Twin 50 presented by United Tire after a six car redraw.  Crabtree, fast qualifier in his only Lonesome Pine SCSCS start back in 2008, broke out into the early lead from the outside line in his No. 63 Jim's Automotive / Judy's Apartments Chevrolet.
